Apple pay 113million (£85m) to settle allegations that it slowe down older iPhones.

Thirty-three U.S. states claim that Apple has done this to drive consumers to buy new devices.

Millions of people were affected when the iPhone 6 and 7 and SE models slowed down in 2016 in a scandal involving dubbed battery gates.

Apple declined to comment, however, saying earlier that the phone had been slowed down to maintain increased battery life.

The deal is separate from the proposed settlement, which Apple reached out to affected iPhone owners in March to pay up to m 500m in a class action lawsuit.

In 2016, Apple updated the latest software on the iPhone 6, 7 and SE models, slowing down chip speeds on aging phones.
